Armed Rodgery vs The Bunglers Week 1 Preview

There’s not much to say here. We all know who the favorite is and ESPN agrees predicting Pat with a win by 44.6 points. However, I think it’ll be much closer.

Keys to victory for Pat: A lot has to go wrong for Pat to lose. Average days and health should do the trick. Thursday will be a great telling factor as Pat has two starters playing in Rodgers and Cobb. ESPN consensus week 1 rankings show Rodgers as the 7th best QB this week and Cobb as the 11th best WR. It’s a tough match-up for the cheese-heads and it may show in the fantasy world. If Rodgers and Cobb combine for more than 25 points, Pat will run away with it this week.

Keys to victory for Rick: Can Tom Brady outscore Rodgers this week? Yes. Can Forte Outscore McCoy this week. Sure. It’s the rest that gets tricky. When you have match-ups like Ryan Mathews v Adrian Peterson, D Thomas v Cruz, and Jimmy Graham v Vernon Davis, you’ve got a tough week ahead of you. I hate to say it but in order for Rick to win, an injury, or two-three, will be needed from Pat’s team.

Prediction: Anything is possible, but it’s very unlikely. Pat’s team name is alluding to the likely outcome of this week’s match-up. Armed Rodgery by 35 points.

Eddie Buckets vs Monica Loves Clinton Dix Week 1 Preview
This matchup is filled with great expectations for players. Whether it be Lacy improving on his magical rookie season, Montee capitalizing on the best starting running back job in the league, Patterson’s studly talent taking over, Toby and Rashad getting starting gigs, and lastly the rookie WRs playing with men rather than the boys, this matchup will have tons of questions finally answered.

Keys to victory for Irvin: As far as pure talent, Irvin might have the best team in the league. But in order to win this week, most of these talents will need to show. Lacy with an extremely tough test in Seattle this evening can silence all critics with a 100yd showing. I expect great outings from Montee and Dez with both surpassing their 18 point projections. The pause of concern for me will be with the rookies. Evans and Watkins will both need to show why they were top 10 draft picks in order for Irvin to win.

Keys to victor for Cory: Eddie Lacy’s nickname has been stolen. Cory has a very steady lineup this week and steady wins fantasy matchups. Steady Cory comes in this week with two backs who will not only get a lot of carries but also catch some balls. Joique is projected for only 9 points this week. I expect him to blow that out. A touchdown from Patterson would be a big plus this week but I expect his 4 receivers to come in with a total of 350+ yards and at least 2 touchdowns.

Prediction: Steady Cory pulls off a victory on Monday night as Joique and Rashad help him pass Irvin in the first quarter of the Monday Night Game.

Green in the Brees vs The Goodest Week 1 Preview
Probably the toughest matchup of the week to predict. Both teams are extremely solid but both have at least a couple gaping holes with players who shouldn’t be anywhere near a starting lineup, yet alone could easily be better off on waivers in McCluster and Jones. None the less this will likely be the highest scoring matchup of the week with tons of talent on both sides.

Keys to victory for Snyder: Truth is, Snyder can’t win. Just kidding  There’s a great chance Snyder wins here. Drew Brees will put up his typical studly numbers and should outscore foles by 10+ points. Charles is projected for almost 30 points. He is the only one of any talent on the Chiefs offense so I’m not surprised the projection is that high. JC does in fact score 30 and everything else falls in place, Snyder should take this game. A good start by Percy would go a long way.

Keys to victory for Tom: Demarco Murray will need to keep up with Jamaal Charles and Beast Mode will need to put thoughts of retirement behind him and work for his skittles in order for Tom to have a chance this week. I think it’s a good possibility and I think Andre Johnson could easily burn the REDSKINS secondary with his old man legs and Crabtree could come out hungry to prove he’s not a “sorry receiver”. Lastly, Tom’s childhood friend, Vereen will need to take a full workload and get much more than the projected 9.9. I expect him to double that. If all goes according to plan, the New Zealand Lava Lamps, will leave “Brees and Co” with blue balls.

Prediction: A tough matchup to predict ends in a very close battle. I expect Snyder to barely come out with a win largely because of Brees scoring at least 30 points.

Armed Rodgery vs Eddie Buckets Week 2 Preview
As my good friend Mathew Berry often says, “Nothing good comes from hustling.” Well he was right in this situation. I didn’t hustle writing these and a lot has changed.

Keys to victory for Pat: With confirmed news that AP will not be playing, a lot will be riding on the Eagles running game. The Colts running defense did not look bad last week but Montee is no Lesean McCoy who should have a great week. Sproles, I’m not so sure about. He will be serviceable but I don’t expect him to come close to last week. Pat will need to rely heavily on Cobb and Floyd. If either score a touchdown, I think Pat will have a great chance.

Keys to victory for Irvin: “Rookie receivers don’t typically have good first years.” I voiced my opinion on this a few times in the preseason and we see this hurting Irvin right now. I don’t think it will last and I expect Evans and Watkins to turn it around soon. But to Pat’s point, will it be too late after a predicted 0-5 start? It seems unlikely as Irvin already has a good chance to win this week. I expect Dez to have a monster game, 25 points is certainly reachable. If Ryan can duplicate last week and Lacy comes back strong, I could certainly see Irvin pull off a win.

Prediction: The league needs a few breaks to dethrone Pat and while this AP news is definitely a start, I don’t think it’s enough. Even with a weak RB2, the surrounding cast is too good to lose right now. Pat by a handful
Its all about the Benjamins vs The Goodest Week 2 Preview
Two quiet beasts in this matchup with Chris having the more flashy players and Tom with the more boring players. Both can beat any team in the league any given Sunday (Great Movie).

Keys to victory for Chris: Chris has some interesting players in his lineup this week after some tough injuries. Losing Ben Tate and newly acquired Alshon, injury still TBD, is not easy. Lucky for him he has a lot of homerun hitters in Reggie, CJ, Sanders, Desean, etc. Chris needs Kelvin to prove last week was not a fluke and Sanders/Desean will likely need touchdowns to have a chance.

Keys to victory for Tom: The best “boring” team in the league. I don’t expect Lynch to score two touchdowns again this week but if he can score one, that will be a huge help. Murray needs to avoid injury and Crabtree needs to show up in order for Tom to win, another touchdown from Gronk would be nice too.

Prediction: While Chris has a lot of homerun hitters, he doesn’t have enough safety in his lineup and I think that hurts him. Some big games from Sanders and Desean won’t be enough to cover the down weeks of Kelvin and CJ. Tom should win this week but won’t cover the spread.
Monica Loves Clinton Dix vs The Hobbit Hunter Week 2 Preview
I was scared playing Max last week. I held back a fair amount of trash talk because I thought there was a fair chance that I would lose. The scoreboard didn’t look very close but it might be this week for Max.

Keys to victory for Pat: Cory has a fun team and with Jennings looking great last week and now West with the starting job, he is very solid. Almost a goose egg for Torrey doesn’t help but his other receivers should be able to cover him. Was Patterson’s performance last week a fluke? A 53 yard touchdown play was great for the bottom line but if that doesn’t happen, it’s a 70 yd, 3 catch day. Will he have a big play this week? Will he be more involved in the passing game? Having AP out can be argued both ways as Patterson is the only one with any talent on the Vikings. I cannot wait to find out as Patterson is one of the more electrifying players there is. Look for Colston to have a good game here. It can be argued he cost the team the game last week and he won’t forget that.

Keys to victory for Max: Max needs some help this week but I think he can get it. I’ve seen mixed reviews on Hunter this week. He has a knee injury unfortunately which may hold him back. Hill is supposed to get more work this week, I’m still unsure about it. Max needs both these players to pull through and he needs Trent to prove why he was a first rounder… Twice.

Prediction: It’s definitely possible but I expect Cory to pull through. The roles of his players are so much more needed to the success of the team than Max’s. Max is playing for the future, he will just have to hang tight for now.
